Celiac Disease Resources

Happy Celiac Disease Awareness Month! Are you searching for helpful information about Celiac Disease (CD)? There are many wonderful non-profit resources that offer invaluable online information about CD and the gluten-free diet, including the Canadian Celiac Association, the Celiac Sprue Association, the Gluten Intolerance Group, the Celiac Disease Foundation, and many others. For additional resources, visit the facts and info section of our website here.

Recognized as being one of the top centers in the world for CD research, The University of Chicago Celiac Disease Center offers comprehensive online information about CD and the gluten-free diet. From their homepage, under “Living with Celiac” you can find extensive information on just about anything pertaining to these topics, including fact sheets, symptoms, screening, diagnosis and treatment.

In terms of “offline” help, the center offers annual blood screening for CD, free of charge to those who qualify. The next screening is in October, 2012. Contact the center for more information. The center also offers a helpful information hotline. They even distribute Gluten-Free Care Packages (filled with gluten-free materials and tasty samples) to those newly diagnosed with CD; the care packages have been available since 2001, when the center was originally founded.
